The East Texas chapter of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) recently recognized one of the Sloan Firm’s legal assistants, Chelsea Hill, for going above and beyond during her time as a volunteer advocate for children in the Longview and Gregg County community.
CASA’s mission is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy. CASA’s goal is for every abused or neglected child in the United States to be safe, have a permanent home, and have the chance to grow and thrive in a successful environment.
Volunteers like Chelsea Hill are there to ensure that children do not get lost in the overwhelming legal and social service system, or in group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is completed, ensuring that the child is placed in a permanent and safe home.
For many of the children whom CASA helps, their CASA volunteer is the one constant adult in their lives, advocating for their best interests. This is why volunteers like Chelsea are so crucial to the wellbeing and future of children affected by these circumstances.
Chelsea volunteers her time after working hours to complete the training necessary to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate and to work on behalf of children who, through no fault of their own, have been placed in the Gregg County foster care system.
On behalf of our team at Sloan Firm, we would like to publicly recognize and honor Chelsea Hill for the hard work and compassion that earned her the recognition of East Texas CASA! Thank you, Chelsea, for your hard work to better the lives of vulnerable children!
