SOCORRO COUNTY, NM – According to a news release from the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, one person was killed and two were injured in a rollover crash on I-25.
The accident took place south of Belen at around 6 a.m. yesterday. 36-year-old Noe Chavez was driving south on the interstate when his 2002 Lexus left the roadway and flipped over. Chavez was ejected from the vehicle and died at the crash scene.
Two passengers in the vehicle, a 26-year-old woman and a 16-year-old man, were hospitalized following the crash.
The crash is still under investigation at this time. It appears that the driver was not properly wearing a seatbelt. If more information on this crash is released, then this story will be updated.
